CITIZEN FINEDEVICE (CFD) is a manufacturer that can handle everything from the development and production of ferroelectric liquid crystals, to the production of liquid crystal panels/LCOS panels, and assembly with lenses and other optical components to create a finished module. When a liquid crystal mode in which the optical axis rotates on a flat surface, such as ferroelectric liquid crystals, is used as phase modulation, the switching angle has a large effect on characteristics such as diffraction efficiency and brightness of holographic images. We injected various ferroelectric liquid crystals with different switching angles into a reflective LCOS-SLM model name HDP-1280 developed by our company, created a panel, and evaluated the diffraction efficiency and phase-modulated hologram display images. We were able to confirm that the diffraction efficiency and brightness of phase-modulated hologram display images were significantly improved in areas where the switching angle exceeds 45°. |
