Development of Ultra-Thin Laser Backlight for Holographic Contact Lens Display

We have previously proposed an ultra-thin laser backlight used for the illumination of a spatial light modulators in holographic contact lens displays. It consists of a waveguide and three holographic optical elements (HOEs), which can expand the beam size two-dimensionally in a thin form factor and emit a uniformly distributed light by properly controlling the diffraction efficiencies of the HOEs. In this study, we design and fabricate an ultra-thin laser backlight with a thickness of 0.1 mm and evaluate it. |
