An Investigation of Command Input Grace Frame in Fighting Games

One of the challenges in digital games is "game abandonment," which requires game design that helps maintain player motivation. This study focuses on the grace frame given during command inputs in fighting games and aims to determine the optimal frame range to enhance the player experience. A system was developed to measure players' command input times, and beginner data was analyzed. The results showed that determining the grace frame length based solely on the number of command elements is not appropriate. Additionally, extending the grace frame in areas where input continuity is disrupted or where directional and button inputs are linked was found to be effective. |
