Improving the social tipping experience with smartphone device using resistance control

In this research, we focused on haptics, which is widely used to enhance user experience in gaming and developed a lever-style tipping device called STRD with resistance control. By adjusting the resistance value and pressing depth according to the tipping amount, we proposed a system that provides users with the sensation of "throwing money" without disrupting the content. The experiment showed that differences in perceived value based on resistance were observed, demonstrating the effectiveness of the device. Additionally, within the content, the system was able to provide users with a sense of throwing money, accomplishment, and guilt, enabling an experience where they could enjoy the act of tipping while feeling the weight. |
