In standard VR devices, which consist of an HMD and controllers, the real-time inputting of leg movements is difficult. In this study, we developed interfaces for creating the leg motions of a VR avatar through hand controllers that make simple human body movements with reduced input. We experimentally evaluated the following factors to determine those that are important in creating leg movements with hand controllers: which body joints are manipulated; the degree of freedom of controllable joints; and the limitation of a joint’s movable axis. |
