NHK Science & Technology Research Laboratories is conducting research and development of a communication robot (TV-watching robot) that can tweet and interact with people while watching TV, aiming to make TV viewing more enjoyable. We believe that in order for users to spend a long time with a robot at home, it is necessary for the robot to become an object of affection for them. Therefore, we proposed a method (interest change model) that generates the robot's interest based on the user's TV viewing history of programs watched with the robot and continuously changes it in order for the user to become attached to the robot and not feel bored with communication with it. Based on the user's TV viewing data for five years, we conducted a simulation in which the robot equipped with the proposed model and the user watched TV together. As a result, we confirmed that the robot's interests become similar to the user's interests while acquiring its own interests as it continues to watch TV with the user. We also confirmed that robots with different interests (personalities) are generated for each user. In this presentation, we will give an overview of the field paper on this model and describe the process from the writing of the paper to its publication. |
