Relationship between stimulus momentum and VIMS severity in 2D and 3D images

The purpose of this study is to clarify the effects of the distance and position of objects as seen from the observer on VR sickness that occurs while viewing images that rotate around the rotation axis of the observer's head. In Experiment 1, we investigated the effect of rotation around the roll axis, in which the depth information does not change, and in Experiment 2, we investigated the effect of rotation around the pitch and yaw axes, in which the depth information changes. The visual stimulus was a random dot rotated around the center of each rotation axis of the observer's head in six conditions (two conditions of presentation method × three conditions of momentum). Two trials were conducted for each condition. As a result, the severity of VIMS increased as the amount of motion increased, but there was no difference depending on the presentation method. |
