Mountaineering accidents are increasing every year, and accident prevention has become an important social issue. More than 30% of accidents are caused by insufficient walking techniques for falls, tumbles and slips, and walking instruction for climbers is required. On the other hand, many mountain climbers in recent years are unorganized climbers who do not belong to an organization, and they have fewer opportunities to receive instruction in walking techniques. Since there are fewer opportunities to receive instruction in walking techniques, there is a need for an environment in which climbers can conduct gait training through proactive learning. In this study, the gait duration when the foot is on the ground is divided into three phases: the ground phase, the one-leg stance phase and the off-ground phase, and the changes in load in the forefoot, midfoot and rearfoot during each phase are proposed as features. We report that the proposed feature values can be used to quantify the differences in walking behavior between expert and novice climbers. |
