Luminescent properties of Zn(Ga1-xInx)2O4:Cr3+ far-red phosphor powders and thin films

The luminescent properties of ZnGa2O4:Cr3+ far-red phosphors were investigated by In addition. In the phosphor powder samples prepared by the solid-phase reaction method, the X-ray diffraction peak shifted to lower angle with increasing the amount of In, confirming the formation of Zn(Ga,In)2O4:Cr3+ mixed crystal. The photoluminescence (PL) intensity also increased by about 1.5 times. Since the intensities of both the Cr3+ direct PL excitation band and the Cr3+ absorption band of the diffuse reflection spectrum increase with In addition, the mixed crystal formation promotes the incorporation of Cr3+ ions into the host crystal lattice, resulting in the improvement in the PL characteristics. In addition, the improvement of luminescence properties with annealing time was confirmed for thin film samples deposited by electron beam evaporation and annealed at 900°C for more than 16 minutes. |
