Cylindrical Aerial Display Using Aerial Imaging by Retro-Reflection

(in English) The purpose of this research is to realize a cylindrical aerial display viewable from 360-degrees using aerial imaging by retro-reflection. We aim to solve the viewing range problem of conventional aerial displays by realizing a cylindrical aerial display. It has been difficult to realize a cylindrical aerial image displaying by splicing basic optics together because of the breakup of the aerial image and the physical overlap of optics. The proposed display rotates the basic optics at high speed and displays aerial images by the afterimage effect. We confirmed that the proposed method is capable of displaying aerial images viewable from 360-degrees by simulations and prototype.
