ドライバモニタリング技術を用いた高齢ドライバの身体機能と運転行動の関連性把握の試み

超高齢社会を迎えたわが国では，高齢ドライバによる交通事故の対策立案が喫緊の課題となっている．高齢ドライバに関する研究として，認知機能と運転行動の関連性の検討が多くなされており，認知機能の低下が運転行動の悪化につながる可能性が指摘されている．また近年身体機能の低下が見られる状態であるフレイルという概念が注目されており，フレイルが認知機能低下の前兆段階であることが指摘されているなど，認知機能と身体機能との関連性について議論がなされている．一方で，認知機能と運転行動の関連性についての研究事例は多くあるが，身体機能と運転行動の関連性については調査した例は少ない．本研究では身体機能と運転行動との関連性について検討するため，教習所での走行実験からドライバモニタリング装置を用いて計測した顔向き角度データ，および教習指導員から見た運転行動の評価をもとに交差点での運転行動特性の把握を試みた．解析の結果，フレイル状態にある高齢ドライバは教習指導員から見た運転行動に関する評価が低い傾向にあり，また交差点で安全確認をする際の首振り角度や確認時間も小さいなど，事故リスクの高い運転行動をとる傾向を示唆する結果が得られた． |

In our super-aged society, investigating countermeasures against traffic accidents caused by older drivers has become an urgent issue. According to previous studies, cognitive decline affects driving behavior, and the concept of frailty, declining the physical function and precursor to cognitive decline, has hotly debated recently. On the other hand, there have been few investigations on the relationship between physical function impairments and driving behavior. In this study, we had older people drive at driving school to investigate the relationship between physical frailty and actual driving behavior. With using driver monitoring technology to measure scanning behavior and evaluations of driving behavior by instructors, we compared them between frailty and robust. As a result of our analysis, we found that older drivers of frailty were evaluated lower by instructors and also performed shorter head-turning angles and safety check times at intersections than robust, indicating a higher risk of traffic accident. |
