In typical video see-through head-mounted displays (HMDs), there is a discrepancy between the user's viewpoint and the camera's position. A prototype was developed to construct a pancake window optical system using only parallel elements to effectively shift the camera's virtual viewpoint backwards. Imaging from the designed viewpoint was confirmed. Among the most problematic stray lights in this optical system and the resulting artifacts, the proportion of stray light due to surface reflection from a 1/4 wavelength plate was the highest. Additionally, the contrast was measured when preventing this wavelength plate's surface-reflected light. The frequency bandwidth was sufficient at 15[cpd], but the contrast was low, starting from the low-frequency domain at 0.6. |
