An Examination on Avatar Deformity and Task Loads Required to Induce a Sense of Body Ownership

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In VR, non-human avatars can be used to create experiences that are not possible in reality. However, it has been known that the more deformed the avatar is, the more likely it is to decrease the user's sense of body ownership. The relation between the degree of avatar deformity and the task load required to induce a sufficient sense of body ownership is not clear. In this study, four avatars with different degrees of deformity and three immersive tasks with different loads were used to investigate the relation between the degree of avatar deformity and the task load required to induce a sense of body ownership.
