Image Size Reduction for Pre-Processing of Video Coding

An image size reduction method is proposed as a pre-processing of video coding. The blocking artifact for video coding is likely to generate at a pixel position having a large spatial high-frequency power and a large object motion. It is more likely to generate in aliasing area for video coding of a reduced-size image. To prevent a blocking artifact for this video coding, an amount of band limitation of spatial frequency in the proposal method is controlled by spectrum power information in the original image. In addition, it is also controlled by a quantization parameter and inter-predicted vector in the video coding. Experiment shows the proposed method is more decreased a coding difficulty than conventional methods to prevent generating of a blocking artifact. Consideration verifies this experimental result and shows improvement method in the future works. |
