Driving sounds for exciting driving experiences in electric mobility

Electric vehicles, which are expected to be widely used in the future, are extremely quiet both inside and outside the vehicle. This can be a good thing, but it also has some disadvantages, for example, it is difficult for pedestrians to notice the noise outside the vehicle. In this paper, we focused on the fact inside the vehicle, the driver's sense of excitement that the conventional engine noise brought may reduce in EV, and investigated the sound that the user feels is appropriate for the next-generation sports EV. As a result of the sound design considering the music theory and the questionnaire survey, we observed the slight superiority of the sound based on the major chord (C) over the minor chord (Cm), as well as complex results such as the change by the difference of the sound added to it (Cm7 and CM7, dissonance, and pseudo-shifting sound). |
