Development of an Ikebana Simulator Considering Collision between Flowers and a Pinholder

In this paper, we propose a method of ikebana simulator to reproduce the force occurred by inserting a branch into the pinholder. The branch can be cut on any plane, and the number of pins inserted into the branch is different depending on the cutting plane and the inserting direction. The force needed to insert the pins into the branch is calculated with an equation based on the measurement with a penetrometer. Users can feel the force depending on the directions of the cutting plane and the insertion, and can learn how to fasten the branch properly in the pinholder. |
