Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) A subjective evaluation experiment under the standard dynamic range (SDR) condition was past conducted on the purpose of verifying relationships between angular resolution images and a sensation of realness such that real objects are there. The results revealed that the sensation of realness monotonically increases up to 60 cpd (cycles per degree) which is equivalent to two pixels per minute in the angle of sight and then it becomes saturated above 60 cpd. The sensation of realness under the high dynamic range (HDR) condition has not yet been studied, it has possibility such that the relationships between angular resolution and the sensation of realness varies by the HDR effect. Hence, we conducted a subjective evaluation experiment to examine whether the angular resolution at which the sensation of realness becomes saturated can vary according to the dynamic range. The results indicate that there is a reproducibility of previous experiment’s results and the angular resolution at which the sensation of realness is saturated under the HDR condition is approximately 60 cpd, which is the same value as obtained under the SDR condition.
