Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) People can pay selective attention to music or speech from various sounds. It has been reported that when multiple beat sounds or speeches are presented or one piece of music is presented, attention have effect on electroencephalogram (EEG).However, the effect of selective attention on EEG is unclear when people are presented multiple music. In this study, we hypothesized that selective attention under multiple music presentations would enhance entrainment to the attentional music, and that would be observed as a difference in EEG.To show our hypothesis, we run experiments by presenting two melodies from different spatial directions having participants attending to one of them.As a result, the cross-correlation function between the EEG and envelope of the melody was different between different attentional condition. In addition, support vector machine using features extracted by the common spacial pattern could classify the attentional direction, and three out of six participants achieved an accuracy of 100¥%. Therefore, our findings suggest that selective attention affect EEG under the presentation of multiple music.
