Automatic Estimation of Homography Matrix using Court Characteristics

(in English) As a next step in the development of multi-viewpoint television, a video system called a free viewpoint television has attracted attention. In this technique, by synthesizing images obtained from a plurality of cameras, it is possible to create a video from a viewpoint where the camera is not installed, but coordinate information in the video is necessary for that purpose. A homography matrix can be obtained by matching four points of a point on the soccer court and a point of the actual size coat model, but if incorrect lines or incorrect corresponding points are detected, a correct homography matrix can not be obtained. In this paper, we report a method to calculate a linear equation of a coat line using Hough transformation, find four pairs of coatline intersection points from soccer relay images using intersection matching, and calculate the homography matrix stably.
