Study on Head Detection and Pose Estimation for Football Videos

(in English) We are studying on obtaining automatically metadata of player’s head pose from football videos. The head detection and head pose estimation method with football videos taken by a single fixed wide-field-of-view camera are proposed. The method is characterized by robustness and high-speed performance for low-resolution images of players. Head detection is performed by extracting region of players and mining the region shape. Head pose is estimated by using the machine learning technique consisting of color histograms and HOG features. In this paper, we will show that precision head detection and head pose estimation are performed by integrating information all the above.
