We report a stereoscopic effect obtained from a two-dimensional image without using binocular parallax, which we call “natural3D” (n3D). Unlike a parallax-using three-dimensional display system, n3D causes less tiredness, and is free from resolution decrease by half due to image division and viewing position dependence. To provide comfortable use of a display with such effects, first we examined conditions for causing n3D through statistical analysis of sensory evaluation, and then performed quantitative evaluation based on physiological response to a display causing n3D. These experiments revealed that n3D can be effectively obtained with the use of characteristics of an organic electroluminescence (EL) display such as high contrast and flexibility. A new display method utilizing features of organic EL is expected to be developed. |
