Equalized Excitation Coefficient Distribution of Array-fed Shaped Reflector Antenna for 21-GHz Broadcasting Satellite

Satellite broadcasting in the 21-GHz band is expected to transmit large-capacity signals such as Super Hi-Vision. We have proposed an array-fed reflector antenna in order to realize wide band and high power combining outputs of each element directly connected high power amplifiers. The proposed antenna is also reconfigurable to exploit the limited resources because of its ability to control radiation pattern for fading mitigation. In this report, we applied shaped reflector technology on the array-fed reflector antenna. Using equalized excitation coefficient distribution of array-fed shaped reflector antenna, we configured a radiation pattern of uniform distribution in the gain over the complex coverage area. Then we reconfigured a radiation pattern having a boosted beam while keeping flat radiated power. |
