“Shape from focus/defocus” has been known as one of the 3-D shape reconstruction techniques, which estimates depth information from a set of multi-focus images. However, the conventional technique gives poor depth estimation for the surface texture with non-uniform frequency components such as one comprising two distinct frequency components. To overcome the problem, this paper proposes a new technique based on frequency band decomposition by using a set of 2-dimensional band-pass filters, The experimental results show that the proposed technique is promising. |
