Demand to deliver high-resolution and high-quality video materials, such as high-vision or 4K video without compression or with visually loss-less compression, form video server over high-speed network increases recently by means of high-speed network cost becomes lower. To transfer such high-quality video material in real time, at least 1-Gbit/s bandwidth is needed.However, we can not construct the video server to deliver many number of high-quality videos with just one PC or one work station because of limitation internal transfer bandwidth in PC or work station. So, we have studied system design of ultra-high speed video server for high-quality video using PC-cluster system and we have succeeded to construct the video server system which can deliver 30 1.5-Gbit/s uncompressed high-vision video streams in real time by using 20 PCs. Furthermore, to evaluate expandability of the video server, we have constructed a communication model for internal network of the PC-cluster which is one of the performance bottle neck of the PC-cluster video server. As the results, we have made sure to expand the video server to deliver 50-Gbit/s video data by using 22 PCs, which is equivalent to delivery 33 uncompressed high-vision videos in real time. |
