Phonemes, particularly vowels, are most essential and important for acquiring correct pronunciation when studying a foreign language. In our research the goal is to provide any foreign language learner (FL) in the world with a user-friendly vowel learning system which can be used on a personal computer. For this purpose, we have created a three-dimensional vowel formant chart based on a visual system, with which the first, second and third formants can be presented. This program helps FL to practice and language teachers to teach the vowels of the target language, and in addition, provides with specifying unknown vowel location on the chart. In this paper, we propose a new system which can visually present a fourth element such as the fourth formant, making possible it to realize a three-dimensional vowel presentation employing any three out of four formants |
